Distinctive Unit Insignia

Description/Blazon
A gold color metal and enamel device, 1 1/8 inches (2.86cm) in height overall consisting of a red annulet voided blue and inscribed "SOLID SUPPORT TOTAL VICTORY" in gold letters, issuing to center a gold chevron bearing three blue mullets surmounted by a white chevron reversed bearing three gold mullets their points debruising the annulet.

Symbolism
Scarlet, white and blue refer to the state flag of Tennessee and the flag of the United States. The gold chevron symbolizes the support mission; the chevron reversed recalls the name "Volunteer State" referring to Tennessee, and the goal of victory emphasized in the unit motto. The encircling scarlet annulet signifies continuity and purpose in the functions of the support mission. The chevrons directly allude to the motto; the gold chevron for support, the chevron reversed for victory. Together, the stars on the chevrons represent the six states where the 640th Support Group's subordinate units are located. Gold denotes excellence; scarlet signifies courage; white, integrity.

Background
The distinctive unit insignia was approved on 11 May 2000.
